The body against the financial crimes in EFCC has declared , the former chairman of the Presidential Task team on Pension Matters, Abdulrasheed Maina is wanted.
According to Premium Times, reports that Abdulrasheed Maina is wanted simply for his action that deals with the fraudulent biometric contracts through which he collaborated with the former head of service, Steve Oronsaye and two others, which allegedly resulted in stealing over N2billion of pension funds.
The spokesman of EFC while confirming the news said they have already secured an arrest warrant against the accused. He continued by adding that the warrant would allow the EFCC to arrest Maina “wherever he is in the surface of the earth.
It was on the 21st of July, Maina and Oronsaye were charged alongside, Osarenkhoe Afe and Fredrick Hamilton Global Services Limited before a Federal High Court on a 24-count charge bordering on procurement fraud and obtaining by false pretence even though while in court they were pleaded not guilty.
Later that same day, , the court heard the bail applications of the accused. And then Maina explained through his counsel Esther Uzoma that, he was not at large because the EFCC had never invited him before.
Some days ago, the EFCC arrested two bank officials with Fidelity Bank for allegedly aiding Maina, to launder stolen funds.
A source revealed that the two officials namely, Danjuma Zubairu and Abubakar Gwambe, were reported to have been managing proxy accounts for Maina who had been charged by the anti-graft commission for stealing billions of naira through a phony biometric exercise, with the former head of service of the federation, Steve Oronsaye
